Abstract: We have argued elsewhere that translation is the form of (Darwinian) cultural evolution par excellence. In this paper, we will try to support this affirmation, by putting forward the following hypothesis: the idea of translation as cultural evolution has at least one great advantage – it sums up all the metaphors used to speak of translation as process.
